WINO: Pretending to Know Shit about Wine

Bottle No. 12: Charles Smith, Kung Fu Girl Riesling 2010.

So we have reached the end! Or the beginning rather. I fulfilled my ‘12 bottles, 12 weeks, less than $20/bottle (sometimes)’ commitment to broadening my palate. Granted it is 2 weeks into the New Year and I should have ended it on the last Thursday of the old year. Whateva.

I actually drank this wine last Friday night when I recorded my first WINO podcast with my partner in crime, Amandalynn. I could not tell you what the freaking wine tasted like before having a couple of glasses this evening. No joke. My partner in crime has a great palate and great appetite for drinking wine, it’s a thirst quenching marathon.

At $12.99 a bottle this wine is a steal. I am not normally into rieslings but I guess that this is the point of the WINO project. It’s definitely rich. Yeah I said rich, especially for a riesling. Apricot. It’s layered, sweet, and then tang. It slides directly down the middle of your tongue and directly into your gullet. However, it lingers on your tongue with a slight metallic tang. Okay a strong metallic tang. It’s a lemon, citrus-y tang.

It’s good. I like it. It’s that simple. Obviously I like it enough to buy it again just to do this wine post. Take some pretty photographs and share it with y'all.

I hope y'all enjoyed the podcast. There’s another one on the way. Stay tuned.
