Hello Wednesday.
We’ve got a Monday is a Wednesday type of situation going on.
I am just going to say it because I know what y'all are thinking: nothing spectacular ever comes out of either of those days.
Unless y'all decide you want to celebrate those days then there’s a reason.
How ‘bout we start that tradition of spectacular Wednesdays, shall we?
How 'bout we start with a classic.
A classic that is enjoyed as one of Nola’s own whenever the humid city’s temperatures start to rise–although y'all couldn’t tell this Spring.
Lord knows I am not complaining but we are gettin’ there.
That thermometer is creeping ever slowly. Damn it.
But there is some relief.
And relief happens to come standing over a grill.
From a grill loaded with several pounds of dry rubbed country style ribs (more on that later) and with a tall iced concoction in hand known as Pimm’s Cup.
Pimm’s No. 1 is a aromatic, herbal, bittersweet gin-based liquor created by Englishman James Pimm.
It’s best served to beat the heat + apparently the mid-week blues.
Pimm’s Cup
3 ounces Pimm’s No.1
3 ounces club soda
1 ounce ginger ale
–real ginger ale No artificial anything. Hell just go for the Boylan Ginger ale.
Cucumber
–it is essential. However if y'all want spears or slices that’s up to you.
Lemon twist
a sprig of fresh mint
In a tall glass or Ball jar if you must fill with ice.
Add in the Pimm’s, club soda, and that one ounce splash of ginger ale.
Plunge that cucumber spear into the mix.
Garnish with lemon twist + mint.
Pimm’s Cup be found just about everywhere in this city so don’t hesitate to get into the mix.
And–If that doesn’t make for a spectacular Wednesday then y'all ain’t living.
Ya heard me?
